These smoked Au Gratin Potatoes are cooked at 375°F to 400°F on the Big Green Egg or Kamado Joe. They should be cooked over indirect heat while smoking. Make that the feet of your plate setter or convert”egg”tor are facing up.

Ingredients for Smoked Au Gratin Potatoes

  • Frozen Hash Browns, 2 pounds
  • Butter (eight tablespoons) (Melted)
  • 1 quart sour cream
  • 1 – Onion (yellow) (diced)
  • Shredded Cheddar Cheese, 8 oz.
  • Cream of Mushroom Soup (in a can)

  • 2 pounds Hash Browns, Frozen
  • 8 tblsp. melted butter (Melted)

  • 1 Yellow Onion (each) (diced)
  • 8 oz. Cheddar Cheese, Shredded

Instructions

  1. If using frozen hash browns, defrost them for 1-2 hours before using. While they may be cooked from frozen, the cooking time will be doubled.
  2. Once the hash browns have thawed, combine everything in the cast iron pan and stir well. To ensure a uniform cook, level the items in the pan.
  3. For an indirect cook, heat the Big Green Egg to 375-400 degrees and insert the plate setter or conve”egg”tor.
  4. Cook the Au Gratin potatoes for 1 hour and 15 minutes on the Big Green Egg or Kamado Joe. Check to see whether they’re finished, then relax and enjoy!
