The LawnBott Spyder LB1200 is designed for simplicity. It is unique among robotic mowers in that it does not require a perimeter wire to keep it in your yard. Instead, it has 12 moisture sensors which can detect live grass. When the Spyder encounters dry areas such as cement or dead grass, it stops and goes in a new direction. This eliminates the intial set up time of laying wire required for other makes and models.  There are no interactive menus, just 2 buttons, power and start/stop. The LawnBott Spyder LB1200 is ready to go out of the box. As with other LawnBott models, the Spyder features blade modulation, which monitors the amount of resistance against the blade, transferring power when it is needed. This saves battery life. Other software features include wheel sensors to prevent it from getting stuck, and safety features such as tilt sensors and handle sensors which stop the motor when touched. The LawnBott Spyder 1200‘s small size and pattern of cutting make it ideal for small yards and narrow areas such as between hedges.

LawnBott Spyder Robotic Lawn Mower LB1200 Reviews

We found a number of editorial reviews and field tests but no independent customer reviews. Field tests showed that the Spyder performed up to and beyond manufacturers specifications. The sensors worked well and, as other LawnBotts, the Spyder produced a beautiful cut. The mowing pattern of the LawnBott LB1200 Spyder is different than the other LawnBotts. Though it’s still random in nature, it turns several inches after it has reversed. The only disadvantage of the Spyder’s mowing pattern is that it is not effective for larger lawns, which of course the Spyder is not designed for. It is very quiet, which is a feature of all LawnBotts when compared to other makes.

Reviewers noted that, without a barrier, the LawnBott Spyder LB1200 will not know the difference between your lawn and your neighbor’s. If you choose this mower you will need a barrier such as bricks or stone borders, or a row of flowers surrounded in mulch in between yours and your neighbor’s lawn. . Unlike other LawnBott models, the Spyder is not fully automated so needs to be manually started and stopped, and put away to be charged in between uses. Other LawnBott models simply put themselves back to dock when they are finished. This may purely be a matter of preference but does mean that the homeowner may need to be home to put the Spyder away.
