The electric lawn mowers were created a long time ago, but they have some issues such as limited range, insufficient power output and the possibility of receiving an electric shock when running over the power cord.

Fortunately, the last problem was resolved when cordless electric mowers were invented, However, they can’t compete with gas mowers in terms of power and range, but the LM2001 offers plenty of cutting power, it is quieter than a gas-powered mower, lighter and easier to store, and that’s why is our Editor’s Choice for cordless electric mowers.

Design and Features

The LM2001 looks futuristic. It features a 20-inch cutting deck, a foldable and collapsible handle and a push-button starter. There’s a green battery cover for the 56 Volt Lithium battery included in the package which measures 3.5 by 6.5 by 7.7 inches, weighs 4.8 pounds and is 40 Ah. It can power the 600 watt, 3300 RPM electric motor for around 45 minutes and can be used with other Ego Power+ products. The battery can be recharged in 30 minutes and the fan-cooled rapid charger is included.

The LM2001 weighs 56.2 pounds and it’s much lighter than most 20-inch gas powered mower models, so it’s very comfortable to use. The motor produces around 70 decibels so it’s also much quieter than a gas mower and puts out zero emissions.

There’s a green handle used to choose between 5 height adjustments from 1.2 to 3.5 inches, and it also features LED headlights that will help you to see during twilight or night. It features two handle locking clamps and a quick adjust lever on the handle, and there’s also a bail switch lever and a push-button start key and a handgrip at the top of the handle.

You need to fully extend the handle and fasten down the clamps before starting it, and you just have to pull back the bail lever and press the green button to start it up. If you want to stop the motor, simply let go of the bail lever.

This model comes with a 15 gallon nylon clippings bag that attaches to the mower. You can leave the bag off and use the side discharge chute and mulching insert if you want to. The handle folds down flat to the deck, allowing the mower to be easily stored.

And as a final note for this section, the LM2001 comes with a five-year warranty. That’s pretty good.

Performance

As we mentioned earlier, the LM2001 can last around 45 minutes on a single charge. When I tested it, the shortest time between charges was 43 minutes and the longest time was 48 minutes which is enough to cut all the smallish back lawn and my front lawn.

However, it can’t compete with my gas-powered Toro mower in terms of cutting power, but it can take moderate tasks. It had no troubles to cut lawn and grass less than 2 inches in height.

I tried the LM2001 on the ultra-thick Zoysia lawn and it performed well as long as I kept the cutting deck in the third setting. At the next lowest setting it stalled several times, but it still comes out to be better than the Black and Decker CM2040 in terms of performance.

EGO Power+ Mower LM2001

Since this model is so lightweight, it comes out to be easy to push, it’s also quiet and eco-friendly thanks to its electric engine and that could be an advantage for young or old users who aren’t so strong to push a heavier lawn mower.

Conclusion

The Ego Power+ LM2011 is an excellent quiet, powerful and ecofriendly Lawn Mower model, however, it costs around $499 so it isn’t cheap and if you need an additional battery it will set you back another $200, but that’s in line with the price of a midrange gas mower. If you have an smallish lawn, the Black and Decker 40V MAX Lithium 20 In. Mower can be a good choice, while if the money is not a problem, you should check the Robomow RS622 $2,119.00 at Wellbots robotic lawn mower. It’s more expensive than most of the models available in the market, but it can be controlled from your smartphone and does all the work for you, so the LM2001 provides a solid mix of functionality and power for $499.
